Adapted specifically for marine environments with gold-plated connectors and DNV certification, the WCS-10 enables reliable communication between multiple CAN bus segments while improving network stability and fault isolation.

How the WCS-10 CAN switch works
The WCS-10 operates as an intelligent CAN bridge that reads CAN messages from one network segment, optionally filters the messages, and retransmits them to selected CAN segments. Unlike traditional CAN repeaters, the WCS-10 only forwards required traffic, significantly reducing CAN bus load and improving network efficiency.
Each CAN segment is electrically isolated and can operate independently with different CAN bitrates, enabling optimized network structures for long cable distances, remote nodes, and complex marine automation systems.
The dedicated CANopen configuration port allows active diagnostics, remote monitoring, and firmware updates without interrupting normal CAN network operation.

Configuration over CAN
The configuration port can also be connected to the switched network. WCS-10 CAN switch allows configuration and monitoring from the CAN connected HMI or bus master node. This flexibility also makes it possible to place the configuration port in a more accessible or safer location, even if the switch itself is installed in a hard-to-reach or hazardous environment.
CAN bitrates and other settings can be configured via Configuration software, or any standard CANopen configuration tool. The WCS-10 CAN switch does not contain any DIP switches, eliminating mechanical wear and ensuring long-term reliability in industrial environments.
